Majority of people say divorce is too easy

Ahead of the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) report on divorce a separate survey suggests that the majority of adults believe it is too easy to get divorced, and that there should be more legal hurdles in place so that adults spend longer considering the implications of a separation.

The ONS report due out later this week is expected to show an increase in divorces in Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK over the last year, however depending on who you listen to, the difficult economy is seen as a cause of increased divorces, while for others it is a factor keeping many couples away from divorce - because of the cost implications.

Infidelity and 'growing apart' remain the single largest reasons given by divorcing couples, and it was recently found that 1 in 3 divorces cite inappropriate comments on facebook as a factor in the breakup.
