16 Birthdays shops to close in Northern Ireland

Clinton cards is to close 16 of the 30 Birthdays card shops in Northern Ireland, after weeks of speculation of the future of the UK stores. Around 350 of the 784 stores across the UK are to be closed down.

In the rest of the UK some of the stores branded as Clinton Cards are also to be closed, but for the moment there has been no confirmation about similar stores in Northern Ireland. The Birthdays stores that are to be closed are located in Abbey Centre, Ards Shopping Centre, Armagh, Belfast (Boucher Road),Ballymena (Tower Centre), Coleraine, Cookstown, Craigavon, Dungannon, Enniskillen, Larne, Limavady, Lisburn, Lurgan, Omagh and Strabane.

Employees at the Northern Ireland stores will be waiting to hear if there is a possibility for relocation in one of the other 14 stores that will remain open, or more likely to hear of details of a redundancy package.
