Third Man City player banned from driving

Three players at football club Manchester City have now been banned from driving within the space of two weeks, as Micah Richards was the latest to be disqualified after receiving more than 12 points.

Mr Richard's Ferrari was caught on a speed camera in September, and he failed to respond to police letters asking him to identify the driver of the car. Mr Richard said he failed to reply to the correspondence because he was having difficulties with his post as a result of renovations at his home. He did not attend Tameside Magistrates' Court, where he was given six penalty points, and ordered to pay a fine of £600. As a result of previous motoring offences, Mr Richard was put over the 12 point limit and an automatic driving ban of 6 months was triggered.

Mr Richards is the third player from the Manchester City football club to be disqualified from driving over the last two weeks, as first Carlos Tevez was handed a ban, and then team mate Samir Nasri.
