Two NI drivers clocked at twice the speed limit

By Neil Logan

It has been revealed that two drivers have been caught travelling at over twice the speed limit in the past month in Northern Ireland.

A facebook page belonging to the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) revealed how officers detected one motorcyclist travelling at 138mph and a car driver travelling at 127mph, both within the same month, and both in Aughnacloy. The driver of the car was described as "relatively inexperienced" and the the conditions at the time were below freezing.

The extent of the speeding in both cases is so severe that the drivers were arrested to face prosecution as opposed to being issued a speeding ticket. The police described the speeds involved as "irresponsible and reckless".
